The first of August marks ‘Sambalpuri Day’ in Western Odisha. Staff and students celebrated the day at the school. Sambalpuri Day marks the birth anniversary of the writer Satyanarayan Bohidar. He was a teacher in the Chandrasekhar Behera Zilla School and wrote many popular poems and is considered the promoter of Sambalpuri language. Darshan Academy Sundargarh students participated in a beautiful Sambalpuri dance on the day. Many of the teachers and students were beautifully adorned in Sambalpuri clothing to celebrate the event. Fundamentally, the prime intention of the festival is to honour the Sambalpuri culture, language and way of life.
