Students Shine at CBSE National Rope Skipping Championship

Twelve Darshan Academy, Meerut students participated in the CBSE National Rope Skipping Championship at Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar in the U-14 and U-19 age group categories from 7 to 10 November 2019. It was a proud moment for the academy as certificates and medals were awarded to students in the Double Dutch Speed Relay, (silver,) the Double Dutch Single Freestyle, (bronze) and the Double Dutch Pair Speed, (bronze.) Congratulations on the commendable performance.

550th Gurupurab Celebration, Dasuya

As a part of Darshan Academy’s silver jubilee the historic occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with joy and reverence in Darshan Academy, Dasuya on 9 November 2019. The school was decorated with balloons and fresh flowers. Students sang verses from the holy Guru Granth Sahib Ji and gave presentations on the contributions of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. A special quiz was organized for students of classes 6-12, in which two representatives from each class participated. The rapid fire questions were from Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life. Classes X and XI were announced joint winners of the quiz.

Poetry Fest, Lucknow

On November 8, 2019 Darshan Academy, Lucknow organized a poetry fest in fond memory of the great mystic poet and saint Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj. The students from all classes participated with ebullience by reciting poems, which included some penned down by Maharaj Ji. The event was conducted in four categories and was judged by Mr Manmohan Singh Bhatia and Headmistress Ms Garima Dhillon. Points were given for expressions, voice modulation, and pronunciation.

Poetry Fest, Kalka

In remembrance of Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj a poetry fest was celebrated on 11 November 2019 on the campus of Darshan Academy, Kalka. Students of classes from pre-nursery to VIII participated. There were five groups and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were chosen from each group. The event was organized by Ms. Renu Bskaand and Ms. Shamita, and Ms. Neeraj and Ms Anjana were the judges.

Regional English Workshop for Teachers, Hisar

To help teachers facilitate the creative process of learning Darshan Academy, Hisar hosted a regional worship for DA primary class teachers of English. The day’s presentations included an explanation by Ms. Poonam Gobindram on various points for developing writing and reading skills which included a variety of different activities, a teacher of DA, Hisar discussing the “joyful learning of the language,” demonstration lessons on pertinent topics, and a talk by Mr. Sumit Bharadwaj on “Effective English Teaching”. The workshop ended with reflections given by the Sr. Coordinator of Darshan Academy, Hisar and a vote of thanks by Principal Ms. Jessica R. Kamble with a promising note of sharing ideas and strategies that can be implemented in classroom teaching.

Dental and Eye Check-Up, Ambala

“Good health and good habits are very important factors for children to get benefits from quality education and grow up as empowered individuals.” Keeping in mind the good health of our students, Darshan Academy Ambala organized an “Eye and Dental Checkup” in the school. The checkup was organized under the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Darshan Education Foundation and conducted in collaboration with a team of doctors from Adesh Hospital, Ambala Cantt. The eye checkup was conducted by Dr. Anurag Singh and the dental checkup was conducted by Dr. Ritu. All the students from class Nursery to VIII benefited from the camp which began with a dental awareness talk, educating students about common dental ailments especially tooth decay, gum diseases, and measures for prevention. The students were informed about eating patterns and food choices that cause tooth decay and received ample opportunities to interact with the doctors to inquire and gain knowledge about various eye diseases, prevention, and measures to treat them. The school Head Mrs. Balwinder Kaur thanked the team of doctors from Adesh Hospital for rendering moral and selfless service to the school.

Fruit Party, Jalandhar

Darshan Academy, Jalandhar organized a fruit party for their preprimary students. They shared what they knew about their favorite fruits to each other. Afterwards they were happy to eat the yummy and delicious fruit.

World Mental Health Day, Pune

World Mental Health Day is dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues and to fight the stigma associated with it. Mr. Gopal Bhagat, health and wellness teacher of Darshan Academy, Pune, organised activities for students to better understand mental health issues. After a morning meditation session there was a power point presentation relating the signs and symptoms of mental illness along with possible steps to deal with stress, anxiety, and depression. A counsellor then discussed the stigma related to mental illness in our society. The day, filled with awareness-building exercises, reinforced the message that mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of it. It is important to talk about and if needed get necessary therapy or treatment.

Alphabet Party, Lucknow

Darshan unparallel. The students of preprimary section celebrated ‘Alphabet party’ with great thrill and jubilation. The students came dressed as objects related to Academy Lucknow believes that learning with fun activities helps to retain concepts in the little minds and the joy involved in it is different letters and presented themselves confidently on the stage. Students also did various activities related to letters which proved to be a great learning experience for all the tiny tots. The party concluded with the distribution of sweets.

Eco Friendly Message, Delhi

Darshan Academy, Delhi celebrating “25 Years: Sparking Souls, Spreading Peace” of Darshan Education Foundation, started an innovative literacy program “Padhenge Toh Badhenge” for children in need in the vicinity of the school. The school infrastructure which lies vacant after the school hours is utilized for the needy children to help them in their studies free of cost. Teachers of the school, students and parents are volunteering in helping these children. It is for these children during the spirit of festivities and to soak in the glow of festival of light, Darshan Academy Delhi observed ‘Festival Delight: Anti Cracker, Eco-Friendly Diwali’ with the under-privileged children from nearby slums who come regularly for evening classes. The special celebration took place with the aim to create awareness among them about increasing levels of pollution and how can we as individuals contribute and can try to control the same. School teachers and students volunteered and shared their happiness with the children by providing sweets and gifts. Various competitions like Coloring, Painting, Poster Making, Paragraph Writing and a Quiz Competition were organized on ways to be adopted to control pollution and celebrate an eco-friendly festival. The kids were delighted and appreciated the efforts made by the school. The magical smiles on the tiny faces were so powerful that it moved all the volunteers.
